The Gainsborough Spa Hotel
As Seen By... Sara Santini @prettylittlelondon
Seeking somewhere new and exciting to visit within the British Isles, Travel Seen sent Sara to Bath for a stay at The Gainsborough. Here’s what she had to say about the 5-star experience she enjoyed there…
“Our favourite part of our stay was definitely the SPA at The Gainsborough,” remembers Sara. “Nothing beats bathing in ancient natural springs. And the fact that The Gainsborough is the only hotel that has this feature made it even more special.”
Staying at the end of September, we arranged for Sara and Dr Andrea Di Filippo to stay in a Bath Spa Room at the hotel, with its roll-top bathtub and exclusive in-bathroom access to the hotel’s unique natural thermal waters.
So what would Sara @prettylittlelondon recommend visitors experience on a trip to Bath?
Sara @prettylittlelondon’s top five places to visit in Bath:
1. The Circus
2. The Royal Crescent
3. The Roman Baths
4. Pulteney Bridge
5. The Bridgerton filming locations!
And what about for wining and dining? “For authentic pasta, pizza and wine we loved Il Bosco. For tapas head to Pintxo de Bath which is a Basque-style sherry and tapas bar. We’d also highly recommend Bar Breton for cheese and wine… the baked camembert is a must order!” says Sara.
So where’s next on the duo’s Insta-worthy travels? “Where to start…we need to catch up on so much after these last 18 months! We are planning to go to New York during Christmas time, to Lapland to catch the Northern Lights and we would love to go skiing in the Alps. We’re also quite open minded about discovering new destinations that we haven’t visited yet, so nothing is off the cards. We would love to visit more places in the US that are off the beaten track, hopefully travel will be easier soon and we’ll be able to do that.”
Sara @prettylittlelondon Top Travel Tip
“We generally tend to travel to destinations that are beautiful during that season, so a beautiful beach destination during the hot summer days or a place to get cosy in the autumn and winter. We don’t tend to search for low season deals just because the atmosphere and vibe is not the same. We love for our accommodation to be in a convenient position but away from the tourists, and in a neighbourhood that has a local feel. When choosing our hotel, we always look for something with its own personality and character, we just don’t like those corporate/business hotels.”
Sara @prettylittlelondon Travel Bucket List
“We would love to do a proper road trip in the US, from the West Coast to the East Coast visiting multiple cities, National Parks and places off the beaten track. Our travel secret is to always do research and check out local events, things that generally only the locals would know about so that we can really blend in with the culture and live some unique experiences. In Italy for example, we always check if there is a ‘sagra’ going on in the town where we are staying or nearby, which is a little food festival that the locals put together celebrating what is produced locally.”
Sara @prettylittlelondon Favourite Holidays
“If we have to say a place, it has to be Italy. We are both Italian and really couldn’t wait to leave our country to head to London, but this has actually made us love and appreciate even more how many beautiful natural sights there are, how much cultural heritage there is and how incredibly delicious the food is. So, if we have to pick only one it has to be Italy as it is so diverse from North to the South and there is just so much to explore.”
