Mykonos Blu, Mykonos

Mykonos Blu

From its azure infinity pool to its neighbouring Blue Flag beach, Mykonos Blu is a luxury Greek island hotel bathed in cobalt skies with endless views of the Aegean.

Its position on a low bluff overlooking the beach of Psarou ensures the vistas are spectacular from every angle. Housed in crisp white buildings, the accommodation and facilities create a space of endless calm where the design reflects the Cyclades setting. Think stools made from driftwood, macramé hammocks swinging in the breeze and bright blue donkey statues placed cheekily around the public spaces.

Recline in a romantic bungalow suite that boasts a private pool. Head to the beach to sunbathe on a comfy lounger. Drop the kids at Grecoland Corner then relax with a treatment at the Elixir Spa. Gorge on Greek favourites and fresh seafood at Aegean Poets.

At the award-winning Mykonos Blu, there are plenty of ways to indulge.

Mykonos Blu, Endless Blu Villa with Private Pool

Stay

A total of 103 rooms are split into 70 bungalows, six apartments, 17 suites and eight villas. All have an outdoor space in the form of a balcony or terrace, satellite television and air con. Accommodation is housed in whitewashed stone buildings which showcase the view and welcome in the sea breeze through picture postcard windows.

The most spacious option is the villas which enjoy the best position at the resort right on the seafront. Ranging in size and amenities, all have a private pool.

Some of the bungalows and suites also have their own pool, while the Luna Blu suite has a private indoor pool. Almost all of the accommodation types have a view of the sea, except the entry-level Island Garden Room.

Mykonos Blu, Aegean Poets Restaurant

Eat

The breakfast served at the main restaurant Aegean Poets is the stuff of legends. For three hours a buffet is replenished with fresh, organic produce of fruit, yoghurts, continental favourites and homemade preserves and honey. All seasonal and all with a view of the sea. Dinner and lunch are also served at the restaurant, with seafood and steak specials and children’s options too.

At lunchtime head to L’Archipel brasserie for Greek a la carte plates and a popular kids menu; the view here is sublime. Or there’s Delos Lounge with its rooftop bar and light bites that’s a great pre-dinner destination for a cocktail or two.

For a lazier start to the day, or dinner after the kids have gone to bed, there is an in-room dining menu.

Mykonos Blu, Location

Explore

It’s just a speedy five minute transfer from Mykonos Airport to the Grecotel Mykonos Blu on the south coast.

Part of the Cyclades group of Greek islands, Mykonos immediately conjures images of whitewashed villages, windmills and pretty harbours where fishing boats bob about in the Aegean waters that lap its shores.

The hotel overlooks Psarou beach, one of the most famous on the island that’s renowned for its white sands and clear water bay. For day trips we recommend a wander around pretty coastal town Chora; taking a boat trip to Delos Island to see the stone lions; and heading into Mykonos Town to experience the island’s legendary nightlife.

Our take

If you want to come home with photos to brag with book the Royal Blu Mansion. Recently awarded the title of Greece’s Leading Luxury Hotel Villa at the World Travel Awards 2021, guests are spoilt to their own private heated pool, panoramic sea views and lots of VIP extras.

The island is well known for its pretty villages, with many visitors enjoying an amble through the streets armed with their camera. The most photographed of Mykonos’ whitewashed churches is Panagia Paraportiani in Chora, a 14th century building with beautiful architecture that’s certainly worth a visit.
