What we love: Turning our room into a yoga studio
Wake up refreshed in one of the pressure-relieving Carpe Diem Beds topped with organic cotton sheets and bedding.
As a guest at the SALT of Palmar, you’ll find a Yogi Bear yoga mat and block in your room, it’ll be like having your very own yoga studio! From all-natural bath and shower products in the room, to unbleached bathrobes and extra soft slippers, this hotel use only the finest raw materials. Little details provide a real sense of place, like the homemade snacks and a beach basket made from recycled plastic which is hand woven on the island.
From the Seaview Rooms, slip on your flip-flops and make your way to the pool for a midday dip in a matter of seconds.
What we love: A kitchen team that cares about the planet
The healthy dishes served at the SALT of Palmar don’t just take care of our appetite, they take care of the planet too. All the food you’ll eat at the SALT of Palmar is grown right there on the island, and seasoned to perfection!
With vegetarian and vegan dishes designed by Grace Van Berkum, and locally-sourced meat dishes, we really do think this is a menu that is not to be missed. Other plates bursting with flavour include Mauritian, Mediterranean or Asian dishes, delicious acai breakfast bowls, or braised deer for dinner.
Prepare your own meals, learn how to make artisanal bread, or prep raw cuisine during an in-house cooking lesson.
“One highlight was the cooking class: We learned how to make proper farata and a unique chicken curry. We enjoyed both afterwards and the food was simply delicious. Looking forward to our next stay at SALT.” Anabelle Wilder
What we love: Connecting with the local community
For many guests at the SALT of Palmar, the activities are the favourite part of their stay.
Whether you want to explore the forest on foot, by bike, or by horseback, try out mountain biking or horse riding, or take a wander through the surrounding woodlands. The team can organise bicycle hire and sunrise horse riding from the hotel.
Do you love soaking up the culture of your favourite holiday destinations? Get involved with ‘Skill Swap’, an initiative set up by the hotel to connect guests to the local community. ‘Skill Swap’ will pair you with someone who lives in Mauritius, letting you learn a new skill from them, or teach them a new skill.
