The 5 Best Restaurants in Halkidiki

Heading to Halkidiki? Check out Travel Seen’s top restaurants in this Greek holiday hotspot before you go…

Searching for the best places to eat on a Halkidiki holiday? We’ve got you covered with these top five restaurants to book a table on your beach break to Greece. Sourced from our famous friends, hotel contacts and our own first-hand knowledge of the area, these are Travel Seen's recommendations for Halkidiki's best restaurants:

  1. Ouzerie

Boasting some of the best views at the Sani Resort and a menu of Greek favourites and fresh seafood, Ouzerie was a no-brainer when choosing our best places to eat in Halkidiki.

Mum and influencer Gemma agrees: “The lunch at Ouzerie was one of the best meals I’ve ever had! And I’d recommend trying as many restaurants as possible while you’re at the Sani Resort, they’re all amazing and there are so many different cuisines to try.”

Authentically Greek, the menu includes salads with hunks of creamy white feta, pots of homemade tzatziki, lobster by the kilo and lemon tart topped with meringue to finish.

And with child-friendly, gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options, the restaurant is an all-round crowd pleaser set by the sea.

  1. Ouzo

Another winner for ticking the ‘authentic’ and ‘beachside’ boxes is Ouzo at Ikos Olivia.

The resort is renowned as one of the best all-inclusive hotels in Europe, and much of its praise stems from the fact that the dining goes way beyond traditional all-inclusive.

Following a recent visit, Jax Bedford says she was bowled over by the food at the resort: “Dinner on the beach at Ikos Olivia was the best dining experience of my life. The sun just setting, not too hot, the service was so attentive and the food tasted amazing.”

Here the a la carte, traditional Greek dishes from Head Chef Lefteris Lazarou have been given a modern twist. And did you know Lefteris was awarded a Michelin star in 2002 – the first one ever given to a chef serving Greek cuisine?

Ouzo is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and children’s menus and homemade baby food are available.

  1. The Market

Topping the Trip Advisor reviews is Sani Resort’s The Market. Located at the Sani Dunes hotel at the expansive resort, here the focus is on farm-to-table fare offered for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ingredients are sourced fresh from local markets – hence the name – and sustainable producers, with a seasonal menu that reflects this.

A lovely touch is that each dish on the menu has a little note to tell you where the ingredients have come from. Like crab cakes with “crab from Thermaikos Bay at the estuary of the Axios and Aliakmonas rivers” and the seafood pasta with “mussels, clams and prawns from the Aegean Sea, Greek bottarga from the lagoon of Messolonghi and pistachios from the historic island of Aegina”.

As with all the Sani hotels, vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options are clearly marked.

  1. Anemomylos

Prepare your stomach for a Greek feast at Anemomylos, a traditional Greek taverna. Hearty moussaka, stuffed vine leaves, grilled halloumi and oodles of straight-from-the-Med fish and seafood are all on the menu.

On certain evenings there’s live music and we recommend booking a table outside.

Just 200m from the resort, Anemomylos is one of the restaurants listed in Ikos Olivia’s Dine Around all-inclusive package – which allows guests to dine at selected restaurants off-site as part of their all-inclusive.

  1. Mouragio

This pretty Greek taverna, with vine strewn pagodas to sit under, makes our top five places to eat in Halkidiki thanks to its fantastically large menu of traditional favourites.

Pick from octopus, calamari, anchovies, prawns and mussels cooked every which way you can imagine. Or feast on souvlaki and steaks. Salads are topped with pomegranate, olives and oregano marinated feta, while peppers, aubergine and courgettes add tasty local veg as a side.

Mouragio is 220m from Ikos Olivia and can be booked as part of the all-inclusive Dine Around package at the resort.
